Guess who just got published in the Journal of Physiotherapy!!!

Another post, another publication. But not just any publication, this one has been published in the Journal of Physiotherapy!! The JoP is the number 1 ranked rehabilitation journal in the world, with an impact factor of 12.1 (which is ridiculously high).

For this paper, we reviewed the literature on the perceptions, experiences, attitudes and beliefs related to constraint-induced movement therapy (CIMT) in stroke rehabilitation.

As you all know, I'm passionate about CIMT and it being such an effective therapy to improve arm function after stroke. We've known it's been the best therapy we can offer stroke survivors for decades- but still, stroke survivors routinely miss out on getting it as part of their rehab.

In our review, we've found some gaps between perceptions of CIMT (such as it being too intense) and the actual experience (stroke survivors and clinicians saw huge benefits compared to other therapies). We need to overcome the perception problem that CIMT has and start moving towards giving stroke survivors every opportunity to regain independence. There is work to be done!

At Cortex Neuro Rehab, we are passionate about evidence-based practice and delivering high quality rehab. We know the research, apply the research, and our clients benefit.
